glow life beliefs
These are the things that help us glow up. These are mighty important for helping us not only find that shine, but keeping it & helping others find theirs, too.
Belief #1
🍇YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT🍓
Food is much more than what we eat to keep us going. What we eat & drink can have the potential to nourish our being, and why glowing health starts here (ps- it’s an inside job!). I’ve been studying food & its’ impact for nearly a decade and the more I learn, the more I have to share + teach about it.
So let’s go over some of the aspects of why what you eat is core to the glow life:
eat all (or predominantly) whole food, plant-based meals & snacks each and every day aka what I help you with when we work together!
beyond eating plants, make sure you’re taking in a diverse plant-based diet (your microbiome/gut health will thank you)
eat the rainbow (which also leads to more diversity)—this is why I love Sakara meals so much!
add in one NEW fruit or vegetable to your weekly rotation (new can be defined as something you’ve never tried before or something you haven’t had in a few weeks)
get greens in as much as you can throughout the week (maybe it’s through a green smoothie or a big salad, just always try to have them there & ready to go!)
eat organic whenever possible and definitely avoid GMOs at all costs
when eating things from packages, read labels and make sure it’s minimally processed (and always organic!)
be mindful of food choices + slow down at meals
finding enjoyment in the simplicity of foods (cucumber + sweet onion + tomatoes in vinegar makes the most perfect simple salad)
try to shop & eat locally and/or for what’s in season (this can become a fun little challenge each week—i know it is for me!)
incorporating superfoods + superherbs to up the nutrition anté (you can check out some of the products I love using on the Glow Tools page!)
and although I’m not quite here on this last one (but I SO badly want to be)… growing your own food + composting your waste! this is my next step!
Belief #2
MOVE YOUR BODY🤸🏼♀️
I’ve been an active person my whole life & it’s a very important aspect of living the Glow Life. Moving the body should feel good (not torturous), so when we focus on keeping it healthy + mobile, it allows us to do all the other things we want to do. Also, I don’t think it hurts that it also delivers "feel good" endorphins and from a mental standpoint it's also beneficial for our clarity, and keeps insanity at bay (in my opinion😉).
Here’s why you want to move your body everyday:
(yup, you read that right… even if it’s just getting up for a quick walk after dinner):
when you look good, you feel good—and the cycle keeps going! (and I’m not saying this to satisfy your vanity, but you can’t deny that once you sweat it out, you just feel better)
find an activity or continue in an activity that makes you happy (this is Barre + F45 for me)
it can help you progress towards goals you’ve set for yourself (maybe you want to be able to run after your toddler without feeling like you ran a marathon!)
is a great stress-reliever and to take your mind off of things (hellooooooo, mom life!)
beneficial to your health and does good things for the body (when not done in excess)
can promote healthy new relationships with like-minded people
Belief #3
Get in the “ME” ZONE💁🏼♀️
I feel a little weird writing this one out (not gonna lie), and because of that, it tells me just HOW important that makes it. Being in a “me” zone is not about being selfish or that you’re the center of it all, but if I’m being real, you need to focus on you so that you can show up for others. It’s how you make your glow shine brighter!
Ways to be in the “me” zone to honour your glow:
meditation and/or times of silence for mental clarity and to connect to your higher self
putting attention on personal development (whether through books, podcasts, audiobooks, eBooks, etc.) weekly
being with the ones we care about and coming from that place of love + connectedness to each other
living with intention and setting goals for yourself
journaling
loving who you are first before anyone else
being present and showing up everyday
having systems in place that help reduce overwhelm
organizing and pre-scheduling your calendar to be consistent and have routine(s)
Belief #4
Taking tHE ALT PATH⚡️
And finally, the area that has changed it all for me… living on the alternative path. Beyond the three areas above, how we live in our environment + the choices we make for it everyday is a mighty one. We have the ability to contribute so much to our Glow Life by laying down the foundation here!
How to walk the alt path:
being proactive vs. reactive in health
being content with what you have and not what you think you need
being mindful of the environment you spend most of your time in and how you feel when you’re in it
reducing your environmental footprint/living in more sustainable, energy-efficient ways
being mindful of your impact on the planet (and taking little steps daily to show it—like turning off lights when you leave a room!)
recycling, eliminating our waste, and/or reducing your output
using "green" products within the home (cleaning & personal use—such as make-up, hair care, hygiene, cleaners)
daily use of essential oils for both personal and home
doing something because you know in your heart it’s right (and because you’re tapped into your intuition) vs. doing something because you’re being told to do it (especially if it feels off to you)
doing your own research because you know that majority of the “news” you see is not based on health-promoting info
standing rooted in your conviction & the deep knowing that you’re doing the absolute best for you (and your family)
By making sure these areas are at the core of what I do each and everyday is a key part in how I glow up my life & I hope they can help glow yours up, too.
